As part of its Continuing Education program, ACRA is pleased to present a webinar entitled “Section 106 Review for Planners and CRM Professionals.” The webinar focuses on helping cultural resource and planning professionals understand the required processes, as outlined in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and administered by the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, for federally funded projects to identify and mitigate impacts on historic and cultural properties. The webinar will address program requirements, describe how and when local governments and cultural resource professionals are involved in the process, provide examples of actual projects and mitigation strategies, and include handouts and exercises designed to assist participants to understand and better manage their involvement in the process.

ACRA’s expert provider is Marty McCune. Marty spent 27 years working in historic preservation and CRM in local government, and has worked the past eight years as a private consultant. She retired from the City of Tucson, Arizona where she served from 1996 to 2008 as the City’s first Historic Preservation Officer, managing a comprehensive cultural resource program. Prior to this position, she worked for the City of Yuma, Arizona for fifteen years, administering the City’s Community Development Block Grant entitlement program of just under $1 million and directing the City’s historic preservation program from its inception in 1983. Marty has a B.A. in Political Science and Certificate in International Relations from the University of Utah. She is a Certified Public Manager (1995) and a trainer for the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions.
