Have you ever wondered how project managers come up with a budget when bidding on cultural resource management work? This 1.5 hour long course is designed to help you understand the thought process behind the numbers.  It will guide you toward best practices in bidding and will alert you to common pitfalls when developing a budget. 

The webinar focuses on the fundamentals of budgeting for cultural resource management projects, drawing on the instructor’s 30+ years of experience in creating budgets in the CRM industry.  The instructor will examine how budgets are developed for different kinds of contracts and for various types of projects. Practical examples will be given to highlight the concepts taught. The course is appropriate for recent college graduates, graduate students, and mid to junior-level staff members. Although presented from a CRM perspective, the concepts introduced are also applicable to budgeting for grants.

ACRA’s Expert Presenter is Susan M. Chandler, a Registered Professional Archaeologist with 37 years of experience on prehistoric and historic investigations in the western United States.  Until her retirement in 2013, Ms. Chandler was President of Alpine Archaeological Consultants, Inc., a CRM firm in Colorado that she founded in 1987.  She received her B.A. from Fort Lewis College and her M.A. from the University of Colorado–Boulder.
